Private Garden for an Active Family

The Owners loved their spacious backyard with a large pool, sport court and guest house, but the landscaping was overgrown and the pool had seen better days. In the new design, serious landscape editing opened up views, and new plantings were added for privacy and seasonal color. The existing paddle tennis court was refurbished and the south side of the new fencing was used to grow espaliered apples and apricots adjacent to new raised vegetable beds.

The classic 50's pool was given a make-over with new tile and plaster, a retractable cover, and energy efficient equipment, but the diving board stayed in place. A new wisteria trellis with bench underneath provides a focal point for the garden. The majestic California live oak offers shady areas for outdoor cooking and dining and bright watermelon blossoms on the crepe myrtles brighten the area with a splash of summer color.
